TEDxCU aims to bring together different speakers with different experiences and perspectives so that we can interrupt the single story approach. Despite the intentions to bring messages of social justice and inclusion, our impact can be different. our actions can silence individuals, voices, and stories and reinforce racism, sexism, queerphobia, and language oppression. As a consequence of errors made in response to technological failures at tedxcu 2020, we did this harm. We acknowledge the harm that was done towards the speakers, especially Nora alwah whose content reminds us that we need to do better.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxCU event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
